Ashleigh Kerin

Ashleigh is a primary school teacher in Christchurch. She joined the DMIC mentoring team in 2018. Ashleigh previously taught for 5 years at Robertson Road School in Māngere, Auckland, where she began her journey with DMIC in 2018. She now teaches primary school in Christchurch alongside mentoring in local schools.

Ashleigh's areas of expertise in her role as a mathematics mentor include:

  • Providing professional leadership in developing mathematical inquiry communities within and across schools.
  • Providing mentoring (coaching or facilitating) to individual teachers in their classrooms to support their growth in pedagogical practices including culturally responsive teaching, inquiry mathematics teaching, and teaching as inquiry.
  • Providing support in writing culturally relevant mathematical tasks that focus on mathematical big ideas.
